Changing browser text size
If you find the text on our website too large or too small, you can adjust this through your browser. Instructions can be found below to change the text size for the most popular Internet browsers, or you can see general keyboard shortcuts at the bottom of the list.
Microsoft Edge / Google Chrome
Go to the ‘three dots’ menu in the top-right corner of your browser and use the + – buttons to alter the text size. Once you have changed the size away from 100%, a zoom icon will also appear in the address bar which you can press to get to the + – buttons (or reset to 100%).
Mozilla Firefox and Netscape
Go to the ‘three lines’ menu in the top-right corner of your browser and use the + – buttons to alter the text. Once you have changed the size away from 100%, the current zoom level will also appear in the address bar. Pressing this resets the zoom level to 100%.
Safari
Go to the View menu at the top of your browser window and select Make Text Bigger or Make Text Smaller from the drop down menu.
Opera
Go to the ‘O’ menu in the top-left corner of your browser and use the + – buttons to alter the text size. Once you have changed the text size away from 100%, a zoom icon will also appear in the address bar which you can press to get to the + – buttons (or rest to 100%).
Keyboard / mouse / trackpad shortcuts
These shortcuts generally work across many programmes and apps.
- Press Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) and + at the same time to increase the size
- Press Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) and – at the same time to decrease the size
- Press Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) and 0 to go back to the default size
- If you have a middle mouse wheel, you can also hold down Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) and scroll the wheel to zoom in and out.
- If you have a trackpad, you can usually ‘pinch to zoom’ by placing two fingers on the trackpad and moving them further apart to increase the size, or closer together to decrease it.
